April is Autism Awareness Mounth

National Autism Awareness Month

Autism Ribbon In order to highlight the growing need for concern and awareness about autism, the Autism Society has been celebrating National Autism Awareness Month since the 1970s. The United States recognizes April as a special opportunity for everyone to educate the public about autism and issues within the autism community.

Portfolio Night

Parents: Don't forget to stop by the speech room during Portfolio Night at Rutledge Hall. I look forward to seeing you!

Vocabulary Helpers

Remember!

Looking up words in a traditional dictionary can be difficult for young learners. Traditional dictionaries typically use complex language to define words and lack adequate examples. This can further confuse students. Try using more kid friendly references like:

1.  www.vocabulary.com

2.  www.wordcentral.com

Fact: Most students need at least 7 exposures to a new vocabulary word for it to become part of their mental word bank.
