All of the pullout students have begun a Global Awareness unit of study on plastics and the oceans. They began to familiarize themselves with the problem from the point of view of a unique and isolated place on the planet: Midway Island.
Next week at the spaghetti dinner, there will be a silent auction. Mrs. Barringer and I have teamed up to offer the following item: we will meet the winning student and a friend of his or her choice at The Corner Bakery in Village Crossing for dinner. We are very excited to see who will “win” us!
The National Greek Mythology Exam has passed, and the fifth graders must wait until May to find out their results. In the meantime, they have been creating individual scenes depicting some of their favorite Greek myths and composing poems to accompany the projects. Look below for a few sample questions from last year’s contest.
The students have been participating in the national Continental Math League Annual competition during their accelerated math classes. The CML is a monthly set of six challenging math problems that the students solve individually during their math class. Students’ scores are cumulative, andstudents with the highest cumulative scores are recognized at the end of the school year.
