March, 2010

The Students at Rutledge Hall are in full ISAT mode. We have been testing our ELL students in small, familiar surroundings to maximize success. We are giving all qualifying students a linguistically modified verson of the state test. Most of the students are eager to do well and are trying very hard. Remember to feed your child a good breakfast and make sure he or she gets a good night's sleep.

February Festivities

February is off to a running start. The third graders in my reading group have been introduced to folk tales and just finished reading The Fox in the Moon. This was a fun story and all the kids are doing a nice job with the extended activities. Please ask them to see their summaries and have them retell the story to you. Their vocabulary and comprehension are very impressive!!

2010 is here!

Welcome Back! I hope you had a wonderful break with your children. We are almost done with our second quarter and it is hard to believe how fast the school year is going.

Fall is Here, October, 2009

The school year is off to a great start! At Rutledge Hall the ELL program has soared to over 95 students qualifying for our program. We are servicing children in reading, writing, and language arts. Our staff is providing in class support in math, science and social studies.

Happy Spring

It is hard to believe that it is April already! It is amazing to see how much progress all of the students are making. While the year is coming to a close quickly, we still have a lot of learning left to do!!

All students wrote great leprechaun stories that have been displayed outside the classroom. The stories were creative and very original! Look for them to come home later this month.

The fourth grade reading group is being entertained as they read a story titled Gerbilitis.  This story is about a boy who takes home his class pet and suddenly can talk to him and understand everything he says. Their adventures are hilarious and the students look forward to reading a chapter everyday.

If you have any questions regarding ELL services or the program in general, please feel free to call me anytime at 847-745-3789.
