It is hard to believe we have 6 weeks left of the 2009-2010 school year. The end of the year activities are being planned and the kids are ready and prepared to move on. The current 3rd graders serviced in my ELL Reading Group have made great gains. They have all matured and become focused students and very good readers. We have finished a story about baseball called Centerfield Ballhawk and the group really liked it.
The Students at Rutledge Hall are in full ISAT mode. We have been testing our ELL students in small, familiar surroundings to maximize success. We are giving all qualifying students a linguistically modified verson of the state test. Most of the students are eager to do well and are trying very hard. Remember to feed your child a good breakfast and make sure he or she gets a good night's sleep.
February is off to a running start. The third graders in my reading group have been introduced to folk tales and just finished reading The Fox in the Moon. This was a fun story and all the kids are doing a nice job with the extended activities. Please ask them to see their summaries and have them retell the story to you. Their vocabulary and comprehension are very impressive!!
Welcome Back! I hope you had a wonderful break with your children. We are almost done with our second quarter and it is hard to believe how fast the school year is going.
The school year is off to a great start! At Rutledge Hall the ELL program has soared to over 95 students qualifying for our program. We are servicing children in reading, writing, and language arts. Our staff is providing in class support in math, science and social studies.
