Valentine's Day
Friday we will celebrate Valentine's Day with a very low key pizza lunch. Students are encouraged, but do not have to, bring in Valentine's Cards. If your child is bringing in cards please make sure there is a card for each student in the class. We will also be celebrating the successful completion of our Multiplication Fact Families. In all the years I've had students learning these facts I have not had a class complete these facts with as much success. Congratulations to the students and thanks to the parents for helping your child master these facts.

Social Studies/Science
We have completed Chapter 4 and are nearing completion of Chapter 5 in Social Studies. Next week we'll begin learning about Simple Machines as we resume Science. Yesterday we had a demonstration of the simple machines that was both interesting and fun and a great introduction to our next science unit, Force and Motion.

Half Way
Last Wednesday marked the halfway point of the school year, the end of the marking period and the end of the first semester schedule. Report cards are coming home today. There is a sheet of paper enclosed explaining what skills were assessed for each category. If you need further explanation do not hesitate to call. Please remember that you keep everything in the report card envelope except the yellow comment sheet. Please sign and return the yellow comment sheet in the unsealed brown report card envelope.
Ms. John has completed the Second Step program and Mr. Koenig has begun teaching health. This changed our schedule slightly. Some students will be changing their daily schedules as a result of this.

Multiplication Facts
The students are doing an excellent job with the Multiplication Facts. This week we test our 8 Facts. Students that have not successfully completed tests are retested daily until they master fact families. We’ll take a final test to compare our skills then and now. You’ll notice a nice change in the results as pre and posttests will be placed in the portfolios.
