Portfolio Night

Portfolio Night Times

Listed below are the times for Portfolio Night.  I tried to honor everyone's first request. If for some reason you have a conflict, please contact me and we will schedule a new time.

These times are windows for you to attend. Do not feel like you have to be here exactly on the starting time. However you will want to allow enough time to see your child's work and talk to me.

March News

MARCH NEWS IN ROOM 32

CIVIL WAR: As our war continues, the fighting escalates!  Just like during the actual Civil War, the Confederates are winning the opening stages of the war.  We have fought one battle and discussed the reasons the war was fought. Now we are in 1862, and learning about the battle of Antietam.

Questions for Home Discussions:
• Why was Antietam the single most bloodiest battle of the war?

February News

FEBRUARY NEWS IN ROOM 32

CIVIL WAR: Attention! Right face! Charge!  Last week we started our United States Civil War simulation.  Each student has been assigned a Civil War identity either a Yank or a Reb. Over the next several weeks, we will do many activities that will decide who wins room 32's Civil War.  Stay tuned for updates.

Questions for Home Discussions:

• Ask your child who their identity is and what contingent group they are a part of.
• What are the dates of the Civil War?
• How many Americans died during the war?

Classroom Update

Science: We are still doing Microworld experiments. The students have learned a lot about focusing their microscopes and using slides to see different things. We have observed various interesting microbes as well as the skin of an onion. Ask your children these questions to see what they can teach you.

• What is a vinegar eel?

• What do you need to do to focus your microscope?
