As you walk through the doors of Rutledge Hall, you can’t help but notice the culturally rich, diverse population. Many of our students are fortunate enough to come from homes that speak languages other than English. Our ELL program provides support for those students who need assistance with English language development. State law requires us to administer a language assessment to every student whose home language survey indicates that another language other than English is spoken at home. Children who qualify for support receive services from our ELL teachers and aide. The program reinforces English skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Our goal is to help students understand and speak English fluently, thus enabling them to be successful in school and the world around them.
