Parent Conference/Portfolio Nights

As conference/portfolio nights approach, it is a good time to think about what information you would like to gain from the time you have, and also what information you would like to share.  Remember that education is teamwork, and we need to work together to insure success for our students.  Here are some questions that you may want to ask:

  • Is my child still participating to the fullest extent in classroom activities?
  • Does my child shoe self-control in most situations?
  • How does my child get along with others?
  • Has my child been able to successfully handle the learning environment in

the classroom?

  • Does my child appear to enjoy school?
  • Is my child meeting standards in the academic areas? If not, what is being done to help make sure that standards are being mastered?

You may also want to make sure that you let the teacher know if there are issues or concerns from home that may affect your child in school.  Giving the teacher a "heads up" helps to avoid difficult situations.

We hope that we can count on you, as parents, to:

  • support your child
  • encourage them to do their best
  • be involved in their school work
  • be open minded and respectful
  • clearly communicate with school personnel
  • ask questions
  • be patient and understanding

Please attend conference nights, as these are so important to communicate with the classroom teacher.  It is also important to the students who have worked hard to show you their work and are proud.  We hope to see you all soon!!
