ISAT TESTING COMPLETED FOR ELL STUDENTS

The ELL students worked extremely hard this week on ISAT testing.  Most students have completed the required testing by today.  However, if your child was absent this week, they will be responsible for taking the missed sessions next week.  Just a reminder that ELL students are exempt from the writing portion of the ISAT because the writing requirement on the ACCESS test taken in January meets the state's writing requirement.

ISAT TESTING BEGINS NEXT WEEK

ISAT testing will begin next week.  Third and fourth graders will begin testing next Tuesday, March 2nd and the fifth graders will begin testing on Wednesday, March 3rd.  Any student who qualifies for ELL service is eligible to take the Linguistically Modified format of the test.  Please make sure your child gets plenty of sleep and has a good breakfast so they are ready for the test.

 

All my groups have been practicing answering extended response questions like they will encounter on the tests.  The steps that need to be included in these types of responses  are:

Oympic Unit Continues

All students continue to have a blast learning about the Olympics.  We have had wonderful discussions about the traditions, ceremonies, athletes and events of the Vancouver Winter Games.  This is one time that I encourage watching TV to see some of the Olympic coverage as part of homework.  Also, please check out this Olympic website.
