HAVE A WONDERFUL SPRING BREAK-KEEP READING!

Thank you to all the parents who came to portfolio night.  It was wonderful to see so many families either in your child's classroom or those who stopped by my room.  It was a thrill to see how excited the students were to share the successes of their academic year so far with their parents.  Please remember to have your child READ DAILY over spring break.  It is important that the students keep reading at home, especially when they are away from the structured academic setting for an extended period of time.

PORTFOLIO NIGHT-CONFERENCES 3/22 & 3/24

Monday, March 22nd and Wednesday, March 24th are Portfolio Nights at Rutledge Hall.  I will be stopping by classrooms to visit during the portfolio sharing.  If you are interested in an individual conference, please call ahead to make an appointment to ensure I will be in my room at the time you wish to visit.   Portfolio Night is a wonderful opportunity for you and your child to celebrate their accomplishments and hard work for the year.  ELL reading and writing samples are included in your child's portfolios.

Dr. Seuss Author Study

In honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday earlier this month, all of my ELL groups are working on an author study about Theodor Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss.  The students have read and been read a variety of Dr. Seuss books.  Students have realized that the text and illustrations of Dr. Seuss books have a unique style with many common features that appear in all the book.  As a culminating project, each student is creating a Seusslike character and will generate text and illustrations that mirror the characteristics typical found in a Dr. Seuss book.
