Arthropod Podcasts!

Hi Families,

We have come to the end of our Arthropod Unit. The boys and girls had so much fun putting together these podcasts. I am so proud of how hard all the children worked to create these audio/video presentations! Click on the link to watch and listen. These projects were multi-step and multi-discipline. We worked in the library and on the computers to collect and organize our research. The students wrote and edited their scripts. They then searched educational websites to find pictures which corresponded to their scripts. Finally, they used the Garage Band program to put it all together. A big thanks goes out to Mr. Werneske who helped us on a number of occasions to create these "works of art"!

Arthropodcasts

Week of September 10

Here's  what we have been up to...
Reading-The first theme in the Houghton-Mifflin anthologies is Nature’s Fury.  This week we read a nonfiction story “Eye of the Storm” that chronicles the workday of storm chaser Warren Faidley.

Language Arts-We begin Unit 1 “The Sentence”.  The children will be working on sentence structure, types of sentences and simple and complete subjects and predicates.

Math-Finding factors of a number, making factor rainbows, and learning divisibility rules have kept my math students busy.  Please look for homework every night.

Science-We continue to study arthropods.  Students have been taking notes from lectures and researching their chosen arthropods in class.  Soon they will take this research and create an Arthro "podcast" of their own.
